Moving Talipapa
The City Government through the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO) is mandated to uplift the economy of the city through its various programs and projects geared towards enterprise development and advancement through various economic activities and promotions for business dynamism and resiliency.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the City Government through CEMCDO, immediately acted and initiated a strategic initiative dubbed as Moving Talipapa Project in a bid to help and provide the city’s constituents a mobile store where they can buy their basic necessities without having to go the public market during the enhanced community quarantine with strict implementation of social distancing and wearing of masks to ensure their health and safety.
Some local merchants/traders and cooperative members were tapped to join the said cause to provide them also an avenue where they can sell and generate additional income for their family amidst the trying times. The said project mutually benefited both our private partners/vendors and the community while braving the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program aims to:
- reduce the number of customers in its main wet markets and bring goods closer to the barangays as a way of helping our traders affected by the ongoing quarantine;
- ease the burden of residents on mandatory home quarantine to prevent the spread of the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19); and
- provide additional assistance of the local government to its constituents.
