A Memorandum of Agreement was signed on August 5, 2023 at the City Mayor’s Office, between the Local Government Unit of General Santos City through the City Mayor, Honorable Lorelie Geronimo-Pacquiao, the ALJODTSCO, and FATRANSCO for the Special Support Fund (SSF) under the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program.
ALJODTSCO and FATRANSCO will be receiving 500,000 PHP and 4 million PHP, respectively.
Witnessing the ceremonial signing were Executive Assistants Shandee Llido-Pestaño and Jake Reyes, along with CEMCDO’s Assistant Department Head, Jose Kevin Sienes.
It can be recalled that the SSF Program was established through Ordinance No. 32, Series of 2021, which aims to provide assistance to qualified transport cooperatives and corporations in the form of a financial grant to aid them in acquiring modern PUVs, in order to meet the required number of units in the approved local public transport route plan (LPTRP). The LPTRP is a requirement from the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG), which introduced new rules on route planning and setting new standards for vehicles and drivers. (CPIO/KAG/MBDG)
