One of the main reasons for sisterhood twinning is the fact that both areas share the same notable military officer and a gentleman, in the person of Gen. Paulino T. Santos. Gen. Paulino T. Santos was born and raised in Camiling and being the Founder, the city of General Santos was named after him.
The Sisterhood signing was led by the respective Mayors, Gensan City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera and Mayor Erlon C. Agustin of Camiling, Tarlac. Gensan Vice Mayor Loreto B. Acharon and Camiling Vice Mayor Noel B. Dela Cruz served as witnesses to the MOA signing.
Gensan have eight (8) Sister Cities already namely : Iloilo, Naga, Quezon, Bacolod, Makati, Angeles, Mabalacat and San Fernando Cities. Gensan City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera hopes that this cooperation and collaboration of sisterhood ties with Camiling offers more opportunities for both constituents and for the generations to come.
Camiling Mayor Erlon C. Agustin also stressed that this bond of sisterhood will serve as a catalyst in fostering a relationship in various fields such as education, culture and arts, tourism, agriculture, trade and commerce which are beneficial in our community collaborations.
Vice Mayor Loreto B. Acharon congratulated all of us for spearheading this noble undertaking and recognized the need to establish linkages among LGU who shares the same relatable issues during these times of pandemic. He added, “alone we can do so little, together, we can do so much”.
