June 28, 2021- The International & Domestic Relations Section (IDRS) of the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO) is proud to announce the 3rd Year Anniversary for the Jersey City – Gensan City Sisterhood Celebration.
The activity is a collaboration of Jersey and Gensan initiatives. Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, The Jersey City Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs, together with our ever active SOCSARGEN in USA, Inc. Darelene Dilangalen Borromeo – Consultant, Rowena Mejia Randman – President and Julius Estucado- Vice President are our counterparts in the USA. While here in the Philippines, Gensan City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera, The Sangguniang Panlungsod and the CEMCDO, through its Department Head, Enp Leonard V. Flores, JD,DisDS, assigned the International & Domestic Relations Section (IDRS) to facilitate the celebration.
Amidst pandemic, the two sister cities remained steadfast and closely connected with each other. In fact, Gensan officials are still earnestly waiting for the Jersey promise – to cross the ocean and visit Gensan soon. More cooperation and partnership efforts are conceptualized, but have to give way and wait when the air clears for both countries in the near future.
The actual signing date was August 14, 2018. The first year was celebrated at Exchange Place, Jersey City, New Jersey, where one whole fresh Tuna was brought by Mr. Dave Arreglado in the United States. The 2nd year anniversary was celebrated virtually and this year, another virtual celebration will be staged on August 21, 2021, 2:00-5:00 pm for the Philippines, while in the USA, it will be on August 22, 2021.
