TODA receives pangkabuhayan from Globe and LGU Gensan

General Santos City (October 6, 2020) – The Local Government Unit of General Santos City through its intensified partnership with Globe Telecom launches the “Fun Sakay sa Gensan: proyektong pangkabuhayan para sa mga tricycle drivers” on Monday, October 6, 2020, at the Pacific Southbay College Gymnasium in Barangay Calumpang.The project aims to provide an alternative source of income to tricycle drivers affected by the pandemic.The project beneficiaries are composed of transport franchise holders and must be members of a Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) identified by their Barangay Officials in close coordination with the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO).Each driver will become a Globe Retailer. They will receive a cellphone unit with initial capitalization on their retailer SIM.Aside from loading service, they can also sell Globe and TM SIM Cards to their passengers and to everyone wherever they go.In support of the non-pharmaceutical interventions for the prevention of COVID-19, a promotional pyramid was also installed on top of each tricycle units that will help public awareness observe the minimum health standards at all times.Gensan Tourism Council Chairperson Jane Gollon-Rivera spearheaded the event and lauded the important role of tricycle drivers in the city’s transportation sector.During the turnover, the First Lady also gave food packs for the drivers intended for their families.Globe executives Richardson Galicha and Regional Sales Head George Lennard Cordero expressed their gratitude to the local government of Gensan for their unrelenting partnership in extending support services in improving the public transportation and development in the city.
